At 8 Count Academy, our mission is to make the performing arts accessible, empowering, and FUN for all youth. We strive to build confidence, discipline, and creativity through movement and performance.
Meet Taylor
Taylor Forbes, business owner, freelance teaching artist, choreographer and instructor in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. With over twenty years of dance experience, she has trained in over 8 styles of dance and performed professionally in stadiums, arenas and more! Taylor has cheered in the NFL as a former First Lady of Football for the Washington Commanders organization and danced in the NBA for 2 back-to-back seasons with the Washington Wizards. Full time she is a dance educator in Washington, DC spreading the joy, artistry and her love of dance with students as young as two-years-old to 18. Taylor's brand, Taylor Elizabeth Takeover, has become her personal platform to connect with new students and build a community of beginner to advanced dancers. Taylor’s personal teaching philosophy is driven by her mission of curating an inclusive, high energy and FUN community. Let's Dance!

Majorette Jazz
Fusion Class
Students will train and explore fundamental jazz technique and choreography. This exciting fusion based dance class also incorporates the choreography, performance, culture and flair of a majorette dance team. Dancers can expect to participate in learning, leaps, kicks, turns and tricks with stands and marching routines too.
step team
Students explore the history and culture of step while developing strong technical skills in movement and performance. Along the way, they build teamwork, leadership, confidence, coordination, and creativity. Step is a dynamic dance form rooted in African-American culture that uses the body—through stomps, claps, and spoken word—to create powerful, rhythmic expression.
